Christmas market
Haguenau, just 20 minutes from Strasbourg, opens its doors to northern Alsace and invites you to experience an authentic, friendly Alsatian Christmas! Far from the hustle and bustle of the big cities, the city of Barbarossa invites you to enter a world of customs and know-how.
Enchanting, authentic Christmas chalets, a city center decked out in a thousand colors, enticing smells, a magical atmosphere and decor: Christmas in Haguenau has all the ingredients of the Alsatian Christmas, with the added charm of an unspoilt, family-friendly destination! The only Christmas market in northern Alsace open every day for 5 weeks (except on 12/25), Haguenau's Christmas chalets welcome you with local products and crafts, Christmas decorations, gift ideas and lots of seasonal treats... Craftsmen, retailers and charities will be gathered in some fifty chalets set up in several squares around the town.
For five weeks, entertainment, exhibitions, concerts, storytelling and encounters with legendary characters will enable visitors to enjoy a glass of mulled wine... Or to sample a "dampfnudel", a northern Alsatian speciality that locals are particularly fond of! As for children, they'll be delighted by the magnificent 1900 carousel on the Place de la République, which will take them on a variety of wooden animals, including horses, donkeys, lions and even a beautiful stork.
The Tourist Office team is at your disposal to accompany you, advise you and recommend accommodation, restaurants and activities to help you enjoy your vacation and the Alsatian festivities.
